Design Approach

A philosophy rooted in restraint, materiality, and the enduring beauty of simplicity.

Less, but better

Our design philosophy draws from the principles of Scandinavian minimalism and Japanese aesthetics—a belief that true beauty lies in what remains when everything unnecessary is removed.

Each rug is designed to serve as a quiet foundation, allowing spaces to breathe and life to unfold naturally. We reject trends in favor of timelessness, choosing instead to create pieces that improve with age and remain relevant across decades.

Minimalist rug in natural light

Natural by nature

We work exclusively with natural fibers—wool, cashmere, jute, and linen—chosen for their inherent beauty, durability, and environmental integrity. These materials age gracefully, developing character over time rather than deteriorating.

Our wool is sourced from high-altitude regions where cooler climates produce longer, more resilient fibers. Cashmere is hand-combed from the soft undercoat of goats during their natural molting season. Every material is selected for both its tactile quality and its ability to endure.

Made by hand, made to last

Each rug is handwoven by skilled artisans using techniques passed down through generations. This is slow work—a single rug can take weeks or months to complete—but the result is a piece of incomparable quality and character.

We collaborate with weaving cooperatives that honor traditional methods while providing fair wages and safe working conditions. Our commitment to craftsmanship extends beyond the product to the people who create it.

"Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works."

Our design principles

Restraint over excess

We design with discipline, resisting the urge to add unnecessary elements. Every detail serves a purpose, every line has intention. This restraint creates space for contemplation and allows the essential to emerge.

Timelessness over trends

We create pieces meant to transcend seasons and styles. Our designs reference historical traditions while remaining unmistakably contemporary—a balance that ensures relevance across decades.

Quality over quantity

We produce fewer pieces with greater care. Each rug undergoes rigorous quality control, ensuring that what leaves our hands meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and material excellence.

Function over decoration

Beauty should emerge from purpose, not applied as an afterthought. Our rugs are designed to be walked on, lived with, and used daily—their aesthetic value deepens through honest use.

Honesty in materials

We never disguise what something is made from. Natural materials are celebrated for their inherent characteristics—the subtle variations in wool, the organic texture of jute, the soft luster of cashmere.

Designing for life

We begin not with aesthetics, but with questions: How will this be used? Where will it live? How will it age? Our design process is grounded in understanding context and anticipating the journey a rug will take from loom to living room.

This approach yields pieces that feel both specific and universal—designed for particular needs yet adaptable to diverse spaces. They integrate seamlessly into existing environments, enhancing rather than dominating.

The result is a collection of rugs that serve as quiet companions to daily life, providing warmth, texture, and a sense of groundedness without demanding attention.

"The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak."
