Our Story
Our Story
Kapetto means rug in Japanese, and we aim to balance elegance with simplicity of function. We meet the world with a clear and minimalist design vision cutting to the bone. Hopefully making it easier to find and choose a timeless beautiful rug for your home.

Two Worlds, One Thread
Scandinavian design. Indian craftsmanship. These two traditions meet in every Kapetto rug. The restraint comes from the North. The soul comes from the hands that have woven for generations in Bhadohi, India's carpet weaving capital.
Over 200 artisans bring their decades of knowledge to every piece. Hand-knotted, hand-tufted, hand-loomed. No shortcuts. No machines. Just time, skill, and the finest natural fibers in the world.
“In a world of the mass-produced, we choose to honor the slow, the careful, the extraordinary.”

Charlotte Engström
Art Director
Charlotte grew up in Stockholm surrounded by Scandinavian design principles that would later define her creative language. Clean lines, honest materials, quiet confidence. She studied textile design in New York before moving to Dubai, where the intersection of Eastern craft and Western minimalism became her obsession.
At Kapetto, she translates centuries-old weaving traditions into forms that feel unmistakably contemporary. Every color palette, every texture decision, every product in the collection passes through her eye. Not for perfection, but for feeling.

Where It Began
Before New York, before Dubai, before Kapetto. Charlotte at sixteen, tearing pages from interiors magazines, collecting fabric samples the way other teenagers collected records. The obsession was always there. Texture, color, the way materials speak to each other.
That intuition never left. It just found its home.
“I don't design rugs for rooms. I design them for the moments that happen on them. Morning coffee, bare feet, the light shifting across a surface at four in the afternoon.”
Charlotte Engström

The Spaces We Design For
The early morning light on a cashmere surface. The way a wool texture grounds a room full of glass and concrete. The warmth jute brings to a minimalist hallway.
Every rug in the Kapetto collection exists because we could see exactly where it belonged.

“Luxury is not about price. It is about how long something stays beautiful. How it ages. How it becomes part of the room.”
