Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our rugs, materials, ordering, and care.
Our rugs are crafted from premium natural fibers including New Zealand wool, cashmere wool blends, and sustainable jute. We select materials for their exceptional quality, durability, and environmental sustainability. Each fiber is chosen to reveal its inherent beauty through our hand-weaving process.
A single 9×12 foot cashmere rug requires approximately 400 hours of focused craftsmanship by our skilled Indian artisans. The time varies based on size, material density, and design complexity. Each rug is hand-knotted using centuries-old techniques, ensuring museum-quality results that last for generations.
We offer a 30-day return policy from the delivery date. If you’re not completely satisfied, you can return your rug in its original condition for a full refund. All orders include a prepaid return label for your convenience.
Regular vacuuming with a low-power setting maintains your rug’s appearance. Rotate every 3–6 months for even wear. For spills, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth—never rub. Professional cleaning is recommended every 12–18 months. We provide detailed care instructions with each purchase.

Each Kapetto rug is hand-knotted or hand-woven by skilled artisans in India using traditional techniques refined over centuries. We partner with experienced craftspeople who bring generational expertise to every piece. Our designs honor both Scandinavian minimalism and the rich textile heritage of Indian artisan tradition.
Sustainability is inherent in our craft, not an added consideration. We use natural, biodegradable fibers—wool is renewable, jute improves soil health and requires minimal water. Traditional hand-knotting requires no industrial processes or chemical treatments. We design for longevity, creating rugs that endure for decades.
When properly maintained, a Kapetto rug will serve your home for decades, developing a subtle patina that enhances rather than diminishes its character. Many high-quality hand-knotted rugs last 50+ years, becoming treasured family heirlooms that improve with age.
We ship worldwide via trusted carriers with full insurance and tracking. Standard delivery within the continental United States typically requires 5–7 business days. International orders are subject to customs duties and import taxes. All rugs are meticulously packaged to ensure safe arrival.
Currently, we operate exclusively online to maintain competitive pricing while ensuring the highest quality standards. Each rug is photographed with meticulous attention to color accuracy and texture representation. Our 30-day return policy allows you to experience the rug in your space.
For living spaces, your rug should extend at least 18 inches beyond the furniture on all sides. In dining areas, ensure the rug extends 24–30 inches beyond the table when chairs are pulled out. For bedrooms, the rug should extend 18–24 inches beyond the bed on three sides.
Hand-knotted rugs are created by tying individual knots to the foundation, resulting in a dense, durable pile with exceptional longevity—ideal for high-traffic areas. Hand-woven rugs (flatweave) have no pile and are created by weaving warp and weft threads, resulting in a thinner, reversible textile. Both techniques require significant artisan skill.
Yes, our wool and jute rugs are naturally stain-resistant and durable, making them suitable for homes with pets. Wool fibers naturally repel liquid, giving you time to blot spills before they set. The dense hand-knotted construction withstands pet traffic well. We recommend placing a rug pad underneath.
Our pricing reflects the significant time investment (300–500+ hours per rug), premium natural materials (New Zealand wool, cashmere), artisan expertise, and fair compensation for our makers. Each Kapetto rug is a considered investment in enduring quality, sustainable materials, and meaningful craftsmanship.
